South West & Cork clubs breeding heifer sale

Heifer sale will take place on Saturday September 4th, 2021 at 3.00pm at Roscrea mart. Auctioneer George Chandler.

Open to breeders in the South West (Limerick and Kerry) and Cork Clubs.

This is a sale for breeding females from 10 months old.

Regulations for entry to South West & Cork club heifer sale

Minimum Weight on sale day
Up to 12 months 360kg 16 months 440kg
13 months 380kg 17 months 460kg
14  months 400kg 18 months 480kg
15 months 420kg 19 months 500kg+

Maiden heifers and first calved heifers with calf at foot are eligible.

Animals must be in vendors herd for a minimum of 6 CONSECUTIVE months prior to sale.

Any animal with a white spot larger than a 1-euro coin should not be entered to the sale and will be rejected.

Herd Health

  • Veterinary proof of a negative Johnes test from the animal itself if aged 24 months or over on sale day or from the dam if under 24 months must be supplied to the mart on sale day.
  • All animals entered for sale must have tested negative for the BVD Virus once within their lifetime.
  • Use of narcotics or pain suppressants is strictly forbidden at all sales.
  • Note: The onus is on you the herd owner to ensure all information is up-to-date in advance of sale day.

All animals must have a valid pedigree certificate at time of submitting entry form to sale.

Heifers must be halter trained for the sale.

In the event of a heifer being sold for export (and are not export tested on the day of the sale) this will have to be arranged after the sale.

The onus is on the seller to ensure the parentage of the heifer is correct. It is advisable to have your heifer parent verified.

Closing date for receipt of entries to the office is Thursday July 22nd .

We will need a min of 30 heifers catalogued to go ahead with the sale.
