The North West club held a sale of pedigree females in Elphin Mart on Monday evening December 7th 2020. On offer was a number of pre-inspected females from well established herds.

Topping the sale was the incalf heifer Milan Picalilli from well known breeders Donie and Maura McKeon, Enniscrone, Co. Sligo. Picalilli is a daughter of the Milan herds stock sire Millinton Leslie (a Norman Hawk son), her dam is the Loosebeare Fantastic daughter Milan Janella. Picalilli sold for €3700. Also on offer from the Milan herd was Milan Pixie, an April 2019 born maiden heifer. Pixie has Millington Leslie, Ampertaine Foreman and Ronick Hawk in her linage. The hammer fell at €2100 for Pixie. Just turning a year on sale day was Milan Posie, a Kaprico Eravelle daughter. The hammer fell at €2000 for Posie.

Joe Moran, Claremorris, Co. Mayo accepted €3200 for Cappaduff Poppy Rua. This March 2019 born heifer is a daughter of Plumtree Fantastic and the Sympa dam Cappaduff Genessa.

Liam Lyons of Ballyhaunis, Co. Mayo presented three young heifers at the sale first up for Liam was the in-calf Goldies Jackpot daughter Carrowneden Nutty. Born in September 2018, Nutty’s dam Carrowneden Jill is a daughter of Ampertaine Commander. Recently AI’d to Claragh Neymar, the hammer fell at €3000 for Nutty.

Liam’s second heifer on offer was Carrowneden Prodigy, a Norman Inventor daughter, the hammer fell at €2900 for Prodigy. Liam’s third heifer Carrowneden Primrose, a daughter of Derrygullinane Kingbull sold for €2000.

Selling at €2700 was Clew Bay Rebecca Et from Padraic Golden, Westport, Co. Mayo. Rebecca is a daughter of Huntershall Gladiator and the Rocky dam Clew Bay Daisy.

An eleven month old daughter of Usse sold for €2,300. This heifer Lisnacrann Rosie Fuschia was bred by Michael Oliver, Swinford, Co. Mayo. Rosie Fuschia’s dam is by Ronick Hawk.

The Moore family of Buckfield Limousin from Westport, Co. Mayo presented three young heifers at the sale, topping the consignment was the youngest heifer on offer at the sale Buckfield Rita. This January 2020 born daughter of Loyal, also has Wilodge Cerberus and Ampertaine Commander in her back pedigree. Rita found a new home at €2,200. Also from the herd came Buckfield Purple, a shapey 14 month old Lodge Hamlet daughter. Purple’s dam is the Bavardage daughter Buckfield Maria. Two thousand euros was top call for Purple.  Buckfield Posh, a June 2019 born daughter of Keltic Handsome and the Ampertaine Elgin dam, Thomastown Karly completed a great days trading when she was snapped up for €1800.

Pat Bruen of the Carrowreagh herd which is based in Elphin, Co. Roscommon had three heifers in the sale, all three found new homes at €1800. First from Pat was the Grangeford Jojo daughter Carrowreagh Princess. This August 2019 born heifer is out of a Haltcliffe Dancer cow. Pat’s second heifer was an Ampertaine Commander daughter Carrowreagh Paris. Born in September 2019, Paris’ dam has a sire stack that includes Abot Mn and Sympa. Eleven month old Carrowreagh Perfect was Pat’s final heifer, this young lady has Lodge Hamlet, On-Dit and Sympa in her back pedigree.

Well done to all involved with running and organising this sale – all but one of the heifers presented on the night found new homes.
