The much anticipated National Finals of the YMA took place at Cappamore Show on Saturday 17th August. With five club teams consisting of 19 competitors the judges had a mighty challenge. The club teams were from South East, North East, Cork, South West and North West. First task after registration for the competitors was judging four young bulls – many thanks to the exhibitors for allowing their cattle to be used for the class. Once judging cards were submitted, each competitor went before a panel of three to explain their reasons – this panel was Master Judge Richard O’Beirne, Gerry Doody and Paul Sykes.
Showing of cattle was the next element, with cattle given at random and shown (as in a regular show class) to the Master Judge.
The scores were than tallied with the results as follows:
|1st||Michelle Tarpey||Aidan Kinahan|
|2nd||Elenor Reilly||Maeve Curtin|
|3rd||Jack Cronin||Sarah Murray|
The team selected to represent Irish Limousin at the Anglo Irish YMA finals is:
- Aidan Kinahan
- Michelle Tarpey
- Maeve Curtin
- Elenor Reilly
In the team competition the results were:
|1st||North West – Michelle Tarpery, Jack Cronin, Brian Phillips & Linda O’Hara|
|2nd||South West – Aidan Kinahan, Maeve Curtin, Oisin McNamara & Conor McNamara|
