2012 National Limousin Heifer Championships Virginia
Last Wednesday 22nd August saw the 2012 National Limousin Championships staged at Virginia Agricultural show, Co. Cavan. Due to the inclement weather conditions, entries were back on previous years, however, the quality of animals present were of an excellent standard.
Main sponsors for the Championships was AIB Cahir. Many thanks to Tadgh Howard for making the long journey to Virginia to be in attendance and for presenting the prizes. Tadgh has made this journey repeatedly over the years and his attendance is greatly appreciated.
Judge on the day Mr. Peter Murphy of the noted Carrickaldreen herd based at Newry, Co. Armagh commented on the exceptional depth of quality of the animals on display at this prestigious event.
In the National Senior heifer class born on/between 01/01/2010 and 31/08/2010 the Wilodge Vantastic daughter Clonmack Fleur took first place, bred by Freddie Valette, Coolbawn, Nenagh, Co. Tipperary from a homebred Mas Du Clo dam Clonmack Ureka, Fleur had been purchased by Edward Tynan, Mountrath, Co. Laois at the Roscrea Premier heifer sale from John Kenny, Drumkerrin, Co. Offaly.

In the Intermediate Heifer class born on/between 01/09/10 and 31/12/2010 first place went to Elite Forever Free ET from Edward Tynan, Mountrath, Co. Laois. Elite Forever Free ET is also a daughter of Wilodge Vantastic and by the Vison sired dam Ardlea Coillte.
In second place was another female from the Elite herd, Elite Forever 1 ET which was an embryo from the same flush as the winning heifer in this class, Wilodge Vantastic X Ardlea Coillte.
Thirdplace went to Tullinacurra Fushia from Michael Oliver, Swinford, Co. Mayo, this daughter of the Sersia sire Neuf was bred by the Mas Du Clo dam Bloomfield Unity.
National Intermediate Heifer Elite Forever Free with handler Keith Murphy and sponsor Tadgh Howard AIB Cahir
The Junior heifer class for a heifer born on/between 01/01/2011 and 31/08/2011 saw first place being awarded to Milbrook Ginger Spice from William Smith, Oldcastle, Co. Meath. Milbrook Ginger Spice is a daughter of Wilodge Vantastic and a homebred dam Milbrook Baby.
In second place was Ardlea Grace from Dan Tynan, Mountrath, Co. Laois. This heifer is a Sympa daughter from the homebred Lino dam Ardlea United.
Third place went to Mongorry View Gisele from Mathew McCrossan, Manorcunningham, Co. Donegal. Sired by Wilodge Vantastic, Gisele is by the Sauvignon dam Carmorn Daffodil.
Ballinascraw Golden Girl claimed fourth for John & Stephen Lynch, Ballinalee, Co. Longford. Golden Girl is a daughter of Ampertaine Commander and by a homebred Ronick Hawk dam Ballinascraw Precious.
In fifthplace was Carwin Girl from Raymond Carolan, Elmbank Drive, Co. Cavan. By the Carwin stock sire Roundhill Saturn, Girl is by a homebred daughter of Ferry, Carwin Plonker.
Sixth place went to Silver Stream Gloria from Kieran Traynor, Scotstown, Co. Monaghan. Gloria is a daughter of the AI sire Rocky and from the dam Dromore Anna bred by Robert McBride.
