The second Premier sale for the Irish Limousin Cattle Society took place in Roscrea mart on Monday 10th May 2010. The sale of males resulted in an average of €2827.94 with a 77% clearance selling from €1,800 to €7,000 with 6 bulls being exported to the UK.
A small entry of females averaged €2,350 selling from €1,800 to €3,200. The judge for the day was Mr. Michael Fieldson from Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, UK who bred the famous 37,000gns Fieldson Alfy.
Breed secretary, Mr. Paul Sykes said “Buyers were most selective with high emphasis being placed on good conformation coupled with back breeding and good figures. Of late a factor that is becoming more evident is the importance of animal health with requests becoming much more frequent for animals that are in animal accreditation schemes. The demand on the day resulting a high clearance rate was a most encouraging factor. ”
In the show classes, the Senior Male title went to Mr. Daryl Allison, Redcastle, Co. Donegal for “Tullynavin Diago”. This bull failed to meet his reserve in the ring and was unsold.
