Limerick Show was held  at Limerick Racecourse, Greenmount, Patrickswell. Once again the Woodroad herd pulled out all the stops and won all classes that they entered. The rain fell but failed to dampen the spirits of the enthusiastic exhibitors who braved the heavy showers and kept the large group of onlookers interested.

Judge on the day was Martin Davis who agreed with the Cappamore Judge Pat Greany when it came to giving out the red rosettes.

John O’Shea kept everyone on their toes and ensured the classes ran on time.

The show was well supported by exhibitors from near and far.

The first class was Limousin female born on or after Sept 1st 2007 was won by Noel Fennessy with an Ideal 23 daughter.

The Limousin female born on or between Sept 1st 2007 and Aug 31st 2008 was won by Noel Fennessy with a Sympa daughter.

September Heifer Calf Champion: “Woodroad Debbie”  (by Sympa) with owner Noel Fennessy.

The Limousin heifer calf born between Sept 1st 2008 and Dec 31st 2008 was won by Noel Fennessy.

Owen O’ Neill’s heifer by Heros bis (a winner recently in Tullamore) came a very close second.

The Limousin heifer calf born on or after Jan 1st 2009 was won by Noel Fennessy.

The Limousin bull calf born on or after Jan 1st 2009 was won by Brian Killeen with a Mas du Clo son.

The Limousin bull calf born on or between Sept 1st 2008 and Dec 31st 2008 was won by Noel Fennessy’s Sympa son .

September Bull  Calf Champion: “Woodroad  Donald” (by Sympa) with owner Noel Fennessy and judge Mr. Martin Davis.

Limousin bull born before Sept 1st 2008 was won by Garrett Mc Cullagh

Overall champion was Noel Fenessey’s young heifer Woodroad Elisa from the class “Limousin heifer calf born on or after Jan 1st 2009”.  Elisa is a daughter of Sympa and her dam is Ardnacrusha Violet who is a daughter of Festin. Her grand-dam was a Paris champion Maguy. Noel purchased Violet from Ardnacrusha breeder Donal Moloney.

Reserve Champion was his Sympa bull (Wood Road Donald) from the class “Limousin bull calf born on or between Sept 1st 2008 and Dec 31st 2008”. This super young bull has been very successful in the show ring, winning each time he is shown.  He came second in the All Ireland Limousin Bull Derby Final (in a class for bulls born from January 2008 - Wood Road Donald who was born in September 2008 ).The Derby was held at the Clogher Valley Show . His dam Nadia B is a tremendous breeder of quality stock.

Local girl ten year old Michelle Sheahan won the young handling class. She demonstrated great stockman ship showing her heifer Drombanny Daisy. Michelle told the judge Martin Davis that Daisy is by Tistou and out of a homebred cow Drombanny Uptowngirl. quality stock.
