The Irish Limousin Cattle Society held their second show and sale of the 2006 season in Kilmallock on the 29th March 06. Strong on-farm sales prior to the sale reduced the numbers on offer on the day. Those on offer sold for what can be said was exceptional value for money for their purchasers.
Topping the days trading at €2,900 was Doonbeg Val from the Doonbeg herd of Declan & Clare Griffin, Doonbeg, Co. Clare. This November 2004 born son of Mount Scott PJ (by Gamin) got the nod as the Champion of the show and had “exceptional muscle and style” according to the judge of the day, James Wycherley of Barryroe Limousin. Val is out of Mount Scott Ita, a Ulysse daughter who is proving a very good breeder for the Doonbeg herd being the dam of the second highest priced bull at Kilmallock sale 12 months ago. Val was purchased by Charles Cutthurst, Blarney Co. Cork to run with his suckler herd.
