During the National Ploughing Championships in Athy the Irish Limousin Cattle Society had two fit to slaughter Limousin x heifers on display and visitors to the stand were asked to estimate the slaughter weights and grade. The competition was free to enter with prizes of Roscrea Premier Sale Voucher and AI Straws. There was a huge number of entries. The heifers kindly supplied by Mr Patrick Peters Nenagh were slaughtered at Ashbourne Meats Roscrea. Ashbourne Meats in conjunction with Eurovee pay a premium for
Limousin x cull cows and retired Limousin stock bulls.

The heifers graded E3 and U4 with carcass weights 397 and 333 kg respectively. The competition winner was Mr Anthony Pollard a suckler farmer from Ballingarry Thurles and the runner ups were William Duggan Castlebar and Seamus Commins Claremorris.
