The Limousin classes were judged by Alistair Graham who runs the Tandagree herd, Madden Road, Tandragee, Co Antrim. Early in the day when Mr Graham was doing his first commentary of the day there was a poignant moment when many spectators thought of the great servant to Balmoral show and to the Limousin breed the late Mr Willie Wilson who will be greatly missed.
Irish breeders also featured successfully in many classes during the day:
Class 534 COW, in milk with calf at foot, born on or before 31st December 2007
Having been placed Reserve Female Champion at Balmoral the previous year all eyes were on Milbrook Celine when she came in to the ring with her heifer calf Milbrook Geline at foot. Competing in this class also was the previous year’s Limousin Overall Champion and Interbreed Champion Clonlara Valance, owned by Crawford Bros, Clones Co Monaghan and bred by Colin Hogg Co Clare. Valance by Grahams Samson and Daragh Noelle looked in splendid condition and thus set a hard task for the judge Mr Alistar Graham owner of the Madden herd in Co Armagh. Mr Graham deliberated for some time before eventually awarding 1st place to Milbrook Celine with 2nd going to Clonlara Valance. Mr Graham in his commentary paid tribute to the quality of both females.
