Ballina show had a very successful Limousin show on Sunday last. 35 exhibits competed in seven classes under the expert eye of Karl Connell from Oldcastle Co Meath. Karl also judged the YMA competition where a team of four was selected to represent the North West in the All-Ireland YMA finals in Mohill in Mohill. The YMA competitors judged two groups of cattle, explained their judging to the master judge and showed cattle in the show ring. The competition was keenly contested and after the marks were totted up Kevin Graham from Keadue Co. Roscommon finished in first place. He was joined on the team by Patrick Shally from Dunmore, Christopher O Connor from Elphin and Ciaran Golden from Westport.
Champion Limousin Newtown Fruity was exhibited by Stanley Richardson from Newtowngore Co Leitrim. She was sired by Wilodge Vantastic and out of a Gamin cow. The Reserve was Derrygullinane Fabulous exhibited by local breeder Gerry Walsh. This heifer is also sired by Wilodge Vantastic.
