Limousin on Top of the Beef AI League

The Department of Agriculture recently released AI statistics for 2005 show the Limousin breed’s continued dominance of the of the Irish Beef AI league. A massive 92,390 inseminations to both dairy and beef herds confirms Limouisn as the number one beef breed in AI and is further endorsement of the breeds ability to satisfy the full cross section of livestock breeders in Ireland.

The title of the Number 1 Beef Breed in AI is a milestone for Irish Limousin according to Breed Development Officer, Noel Gowen. “The achievement is more remarkable given the downturn in AI usage in Ireland over last ten years where the levels of Limousin AI have remained consistently high. The Limousin breed is not a breed of extremes but a breed of balance, satisfying all types of livestock producers. This balance will be key to maintaining its position as the Number 1 Beef Breed in AI”.
