The prolific show cow Millbrook Ginger Spice continued to achieve accolades on the show circuit when her progeny excelled at the prestigious 2017 Royal Highland Show. Gingerspice who is a Wilodge Vantastic daughter and by Millbrook Baby, a Brookmill Usefull daughter is owned by Mr. William Smith of the renowned Millbrook herd based at Oldcastle ,Co. Meath. North East Club Herds Competition and Prize Giving Night
The North Eastern Limousin Club are running the club herds competition between the 26th and the 30th of June with over 40 herds competing. Melanie and Micheal Alford of Foxhill farm pedigrees are judging this year’s competition.
On Friday night the 30th June the club will hold the herds competition prize giving, club auction and a presentation to the clubs founding member Mr Ray Carolan (Carwin Limousins). The auction promises to be the highlight of the night with a selection of rare semen straws including Cloughhead Lord, Kaprico Eravelle and Nenuphar to mention a few being offered. Three top drawer embryos and an outstanding heifer calf Ernevalley Lioness (click below to see video) will all be auctioned on the night. Lioness is an October born daughter of Lodge Hamlet, out of a homebred Wilodge Cerberus daughter Ernevalley Innis ET. The grand dam of Lioness is the famous Drummin Cliona a Mas Du Clo daughter who has bred progeny to €16,500 and multiple high priced sons and daughters at auction. Meelickaduff Honda - RDS Champion of Champions 2016
The majority of us associate the word Honda with some sort of a vehicle, however if you mention the word Honda in the townland of Meelickaduff, Castlerea, Co Roscommon, everyone will know it’s definitely not a vehicle. It’s a pedigree Limousin Cow belonging to Owen Hester. For just over the past 3 years, this cow has travelled the length and breadth of the country, with the Roscommon teenager competing at various shows. View report >>>
Laois breeder leads the way at inaugural Granard Limousin sale
A mart in county Longford – Granard Farmers mart – hosted the final spring show and sale on behalf of the Irish Limousin Cattle Society on Friday the 2nd June 2017. This sale comprised of both bulls and heifers. Eighteen bulls went through the ring with 15 or 83% finding new homes, there were three heifers on offer, two of these were sold. Bulls averaged €2,553, while heifers averaged €2,675. Eamon Gaffney, an auctioneer from the North East area, took control of the auctioneer’s podium. View report >>>
NORTH EAST CLUB YMA WORKSHOP MAY 2017
