Roscrea Premier Female Sale Catalogue - 26th April 2014

Roscrea Premier Female Sale - 26th April 2014

Following our recent annual sale in Athenry mart on Thursday last the Irish Limousin Cattle society is hosting its Premier Heifer Show and Sale on this coming Saturday, 26th April in Roscrea mart, Co. Tipperary, where 44 deep pedigree Limousin Females will go under the hammer.

On offer are the offspring of 24 different sires with back-breeding to numerous renowned and well proven maternal sires.

This sale offers potential purchasers the opportunity to purchase foundation heifers from some the best known breeders in the country. Many of these breeders themselves started their pedigree herds with females purchased here in Roscrea.

Some of these females are already in calf, while all females are tested negative for BVD and as is the norm at all ILCS sales the dams of the lots on sale have been tested negative from Johnes.

The Limousin female is Ireland’s undisputed number one suckler cow. Thirty two percent of Ireland’s suckler cows are Limousin.

FEATURE: HARD WORKING COWS IN TIPPERARY

Teagasc researchers frequently point out that suckler farming requires a hard working cow. There is no doubt that on the farms of John and Willie Cleary, outside Nenagh, the cows are hard working. Read more >>>

FEATURE: More and more dairy farmers using Limousin to maximise farm profit.

Using a Limousin bull on dairy cows is an excellent choice to increase farm profit. It makes no sense to use dairy breeds on all cows, especially with improved sexed semen technology, low male calf value, and that not all cows would in the norm be selected to breed dairy replacements.
